The Grand Ledge Community Band was formed in January 2009 and has been an excellent outlet for musicians of all ages & abilities to perform in various concert band settings.
Traditionally the band will perform 5 concerts each year, as well as an optional parade marching opportunity. Rehearsals are Wednesdays from 7-9pm at Beagle Middle School during the public school year.
Our band is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit with a stated goal of raising funds for local charities and community projects. Throughout our lifetime we've been able to give over $25k to our community through our concerts.
Interested players should contact firstname.lastname@example.org for additional information.
Jerry Rose was brought on as our Director after a successful 33-year career as a music educator and band director. He taught in the Michigan school districts of Pennfield, Coldwater and Charlotte where his bands earned over seventy division one ratings at MSBOA festivals and numerous other awards and honors. He earned his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Olivet College in 1986 and his Master of Music Education degree from VanderCook College of Music in 1993.
This is Jerry's second year directing the GLCB.
The GLCB rehearses every Wednesday during the school year at Beagle Middle School in Grand Ledge, 7pm to 9pm.
We are open to all members of the public, and accepting of all skill levels. There are no auditions for seats or parts, though we do ask all of our members to musically prepare for our concerts to maintain an enjoyable quality of performance. Our band has High School players, Retirees, and everything in between.
Bring your instrument and love of music. Stands and chairs are provided by Beagle Middle School for our use, and we have music folders for new members to take their music home.
We would not turn away any interested player due to playing the "wrong" instrument. Come and play what you enjoy!
